Class Description

Skill Level: intermediate to advanced

In this 20 week class (2.75 hours per week; total approximately 55 hours) you will carve, texture and paint a life-size drop-winged, open-billed male Red-winged Blackbird with a turned head and many raised feathers. You will also learn how to make feet and to carve a cattail to mount your bird on. This is not a beginner class; it is intended to teach more advanced skills and techniques to those who are already familiar and experienced with the process and steps involved in carving, texturing and painting a realistic bird from wood. We will try to keep homework to a minimum, but those who are willing and able to do a bit of work between classes will find it beneficial to do so. Class dates and times: Every Thursday evening 7 pm-9:45 pm from October 10, 2019 through late March 2020 except Dec 19, 26 and Jan 2. (Please Note: One or two other dates may be subject to cancellation but the class will run at least 20 weeks).

A fee of $470.00 includes everything - all necessary wooden blanks, glass eyes, reference material, pattern, paint, and any other tools and supplies as needed (also includes all applicable taxes). Limited study notes will also be provided. All you need to bring is a desire to carve and learn!

The Razertip classroom is a fully-equipped facility where each workstation has all the top-quality tools and equipment you'll need to complete your project. Even if you have tools of your own, you won't need to bring them (unless you really want to).
